Producer.io is a SaaS platform built for film, media, and creative production teams to manage projects end-to-end, from planning to delivery. The platform aimed to replace fragmented workflows spread across spreadsheets, shared drives, and third-party tools. My role was to design the full product experience with a focus on streamlining operations, reducing manual work, and improving retention across production teams of different sizes.
Role:
Senior UI/UX Designer
Industry:
Film Production, SaaS
Duration:
12 Months
Challenges
High onboarding friction as new users struggled to map complex production workflows into fragmented tools
Operational delays due to disconnected systems for scheduling, task management, file review, and crew coordination
Lack of collaboration features limited engagement across multi-role production teams and impacted long-term retention
My Approach
Designed fully integrated modules for scheduling, budgeting, casting, shot lists, file reviews, and crew management into one cohesive system
Built the ProFlow engine, automating critical tasks like shooting schedule generation and call sheet creation to reduce manual input and errors
Introduced contextual collaboration features that allowed producers, crew, and editors to comment and tag directly inside the relevant workflow stages
Developed permission-based role management to simplify onboarding for different user types and create scalable team adoption across studios
Results
Reduced time to full project setup by 50 percent, accelerating onboarding for new production teams
Increased recurring engagement by automating high-friction tasks that previously required manual coordination
Delivered a fully scalable SaaS model that could serve both small indie teams and large-scale studio productions without redesigning core flows
Conclusion
Producer.io was a deeply operational growth project. Designing for creative teams required a product that looked simple and actively removed operational complexity. Every module was designed to reduce friction, automate routine work, and drive deeper adoption across production departments. This project taught me how product design can directly drive growth by solving pain points at the system level.
